Socket's Serial I/O PC Cards Dual Port add fast serial COM ports to mobile computers for attaching fax/modems, bar code scanners, court reporters, data acquisition equipment, mag stripe readers, GPS receivers, digital cameras or other RS-232 serial devices. The world's most popular PC Card serial adapters are certified by Microsoft for Windows CE/95/98/NT/ME/2000/XP. Socket's High-Integration Serial (HIS) chip reduces chip count to improve reliability and reduce power consumption. The Serial I/O Card uses only 13-21 mA on average compared to over 100 mA for most other serial cards. This extends the battery life of your mobile computer in situations where AC power is unavailable.
The ruggedized version is designed to handle industrial and field applications. Featuring integrated fixed cables maintaining solid contact in high vibration environments such as moving vehicles, a molded strain relief protects against lateral stress and seals out dust and moisture, and a rigid, sonic welded frame to resist torque that could crack circuit board traces.
