PCMCIA PC Card Type II to CompactFlash Adapter
Synchrotech's PCMCIA PC Card Type II to CompactFlash Adapter is a low cost adapter that allows host systems with available Type II/III 16-bit PC Card or 32-bit PC CardBus slots to deploy CompactFlash memory cards. The passive pin-out adapter accepts CompactFlash Cards with a Type I form factor. Mapping CompactFlash's 50 pins to the same assignments utilized on 68 pin PCMCIA PC Card ATA Flash memory devices means CompactFlash Cards behave just as if they were ATA Flash cards. The Adapter provides very good throughput and is very compact and portable. Furthermore, it requires no drivers on any system that fully supports PC Card ATA Flash specification. Transfer rates are limited by the 16-bit PCMCIA PC Card standard, so the device doesn't harness UDMA capabilities of modern CompactFlash devices.
If the host system supports the correct devices specific drivers, CF+ I/O devices can also be used with the adapter. CF+ I/O configurations are considered known to work, but unsupported and implementation details and support issues are left to the end user.
