PCI Bus to PC CardBus Read-Writer 2 Slot Internal Front Rear P416
Synchrotech's Elan P416 PCI to PC Card adapter front and rear supports two independent card sockets compliant with PC Card standards. The front 16 bit slot provides convenient access for cards like flash media or finger print recognition. The rear 32 bit CardBus slot is suitable for cards that are less frequently swapped, including 802.11 Wireless LAN or Bluetooth cards. Being fully CardBus compliant, the rear slot handles CardBus cards providing high speed connections like IEEE 1394 and USB 2.0. The reader provides a rich feature set, making it ideal for bridging between PCI and PC Card in desktop computers. Units comply with the 16 bit PC Card and 32 bit CardBus specifications and supports any combination of 8 bit or 16 bit PC Cards in either of the two sockets and 32 bit PC CardBus Cards in the rear socket, powered at 5.0V or 3.3V as required. The unit's two slot design accommodate combinations of up to two Type I, two Type II, or two Type III cards simultaneously.
The front card slot is contained in a standard 3.5" drive bay, providing the reader with easy front access for card insertions. The host system interface for the readers is compliant with the PCI Local Bus Specification 2.1 or greater. Unique software configured interrupt routing circuits, and necessary drive software is provided together for the reader to service IO cards requiring IRQ functionality from the socket. This enables the reader to support most 16 bit PC Card and CardBus applications including: Wireless LAN Card (802.11b, Bluetooth, etc.), high performance CardBus cards including IEEE 1394 and USB 2.0, the device also handles memory cards including ATA Flash, CompactFlash and Microdrives (with PC Card adapters), SRAM Cards, and much more. The drivers for the unit works with nearly every Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems running on the 586 or later platform.
