Harnessing the powerful PCI Express capabilities of ExpressCard, the ExpressCard 34 to USB 2.0 and FireWire 400 Combo Host Adapter is an inexpensive single card solution for adding or supplementing USB and FireWire. The ExpressCard provides full 480Mbps throughput for versatile USB 2.0 peripherals and 400Mbps throughput for high performance FireWire 400 peripherals. The adapter provides one external USB 2.0 port and two external FireWire 400 (IEEE 1394 A) ports. The ExpressCard is fully backward compatible with existing USB 1.1 devices, and connects with USB based printers, modems, speakers, scanners, and hundreds of other devices. Easy USB installation makes adding new hardware a breeze, with no complex configuration, confusing plug-ins, or IRQs. Connect up to 127 USB products to PCs. The FireWire portion of the card interfaces FireWire peripherals including Digital Video Camcorders, digital still image cameras, set top boxes, hard drives, DVD/CDRWs and other mass storage devices. Use with multiple peripherals or with a hub for daisy chaining and/or hierarchical (tree) bus configurations. Ready for use with self-powered devices, or purchase 12V > 1A from any electronics store for devices requiring bus power.
