Ratoc FireWire IEEE 1394 to Ultra SCSI Converter
The FR1SX FireWire® to Ultra SCSI Converter opens a whole new world of high performance SCSI devices for systems featuring FireWire® IEEE 1394, but no SCSI ports. Attaching the converter to an Ultra SCSI storage device allows it to behave just like a FireWire® device on a FireWire® chain. Unlike competing converters, the FR1SX is Ultra SCSI rather than SCSI II based, so it offers much higher performance -- nearly twice that of other IEEE 1394 to SCSI based converters and nearly ten times that of USB to SCSI converters. Both FireWire® IEEE 1394 ports are capable of running up to 400 Mbps each. The Ultra SCSI port provide blistering performance up to 20 MBps, and interfaces with nearly all SCSI drives.
When used with the optional AC power adapter, the unit will function as an FireWire® IEEE 1394 repeater hub as long as the SCSI device is powered off. This multi-function capability, combined with its small size and light weight, makes the FR1SX an excellent choice for mobile uses. This adapter is highly recommended for applications including digital video, multimedia production, and other uses requiring high I/O performance. For external SCSI devices only.
